BIOGRAPHY

Charmaine Chan is a Singaporean writer, journalist, editor, poet and former lawyer.

Her first full-length work, The Magic Circle, was released in 2017. A creative non fiction title  recounting Charmaine’s experience of losing her sister to cancer, the book was well-received by critics and reviewers alike, and went on to be shortlisted for the Singapore Literature Prize in 2018. Her work has since been featured in The Straits Times, Her World, The Peak and Prestige. Her poetry has also appeared in the bestselling anthology, No Other City: the Ethos Anthology of Urban Poetry (2000).

Charmaine considers herself an inveterate globetrotter, and has lived, studied and worked around the world — in countries like Hong Kong, Shanghai and London. She continues to be active in Singapore’s literary scene today, having made appearances in the 2019 #BuySingLit campaign, meet-the-author sessions, book clubs and other literary events.
