BIOGRAPHY

Lydia Kwa is a Singaporean-born clinical psychologist and writer who currently lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at the University of Toronto, and her MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Queen’s University in Kingston. 

Kwa is the author of four novels, including This Place Called Absence (2000), which was shortlisted for the Books in Canada First Novel Award, nominated for the ReLit Award in 2001 and the Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Fiction in 2002; The Walking Boy (2005) shortlisted for the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize in 2006; Pulse (2014); Oracle Bone (2017), first in the chuanqi duology, with The Walking Boy (revised edition, 2019) as the second.

She has also published two collections of poetry, The Colours of Heroines (1994) and sinuous (2013).
